The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released range figures for the entry-level 2021 Porsche Taycan.
The base Taycan comes outfitted as standard with a 79.2 kWh battery pack and can travel 200 miles (320 km) on a charge. Those that opt for the larger 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus benefit from an increased range of 225 miles (362 km).
While those figures may not seem all that impressive, Porsche is keen to point out that the EPA estimates are very conservative. In fact, it had independent firm AMCI Testing perform range tests on the 2021 Taycan and they reported 282 miles (454 km) of range with the Performance Battery Plus upgrade.

With the standard 79.2 kWh battery, the entry-level Taycan has a single electric motor driving the rear wheels and producing 321 hp and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque, and up to 402 hp and 254 lb-ft (344 Nm) when using launch control with Overboost. The larger Performance Battery Plus option ups output to 375 hp in normal driving and 469 horses and 263 lb-ft (423 Nm) with launch control. The EV can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.1 seconds.
Prices for the 2021 Porsche Taycan start at $79,900 before the $1,350 delivery, processing, and handling fee. It doesn’t provide the same kind of straight-line acceleration as the dual-motor, all-wheel drive 4S, Turbo and Turbo S but many reviewers actually think it could very well be the pick of the range.
