Anyone who’s ever wanted to purchase any sort of Formula 1 merchandise or collectibles knows it’s usually quite expensive. However, this Scuderia Toro Rosso STR14 listed for sale on Race Cars Direct blows everything else out of the water, and is quite possibly the most expensive, yet special collector’s item an F1 fan could own.
The STR14 was driven by Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly in the 2019 season for a total of 17 races, one of which resulted in a podium finish for Gasly in Brazil after having been demoted back to Toro Rosso from Red Bull. That would make the STR14 the second most successful car in the team’s 14-year history, only beaten out by the 2008 STR3 in which Sebastian Vettel secured a first place finish.

This particular STR14 is chassis 04, which was the exact one Gasly achieved his podium in. It’s being sold as a rolling chassis, which means it won’t come with hydraulics, an ECU, or a power unit. But seeing as the car was from the fifth season of the turbo-hybrid era, a 1.6L turbocharged V6 and a hybrid system would have normally called its engine compartment home.

Other than that, it comes complete with all radiators, hoses, and pipelines, and also includes both race and travel steering wheels, a Toro Rosso car cover, and Gasly’s custom-fitted seat (despite Albon’s number being on the car). In addition, the gearbox, pedals, brakes, steering system, and DRS mechanism are all in working order.
There is no price listed, but we’d wager to say that this is probably one of the most expensive pieces of racing memorabilia money can buy, yet it’s always interesting to see modern F1 cars like this up for sale.
