Polestar has announced that Spotify Group Sessions Beta is now natively available on the ‘2’ electric saloon.
The functionality allows everyone in the vehicle to add songs to a Spotify playlist. That means that requests no longer have to be mediated by mom or dad in the front seat. If that sounds a bit like chaos, though, you can always revoke access to the group session.
To use the functionality, you must have a Spotify Premium account, and it allows you to add whatever song you’re thinking of without having to hook your phone up to the Bluetooth or switch accounts. You simply have to scan a QR code in the app on your phone and you can start adding songs to the queue.

“We all know that sometimes the driver doesn’t have the best taste in music and my family tends to agree,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “The addition of Group Sessions Beta from Spotify is a great way for others in the vehicle to influence the playlist and enjoy their favorite tracks.”
This is one of the latest features for Polestar’s infotainment system. One of the marquee features of the vehicle, the 2’s central screen is run via a Google Android operating system. The system, which is being rolled out to its sister-brand Volvo, allows owners to use Google Maps, Assistant, and a whole host of in-car apps available via the Google Play store.
Polestar 2 owners who already have the Spotify app installed now have access to this feature. The all-electric saloon starts at $61,200 in the USA.
