Details surrounding a plug-in hybrid version of the Urus date back a few years, but Lamborghini might finally introduce it as part of the mid-cycle refresh that’s currently in the making.
Believed to launch as the Urus PowerHybrid (name obviously unconfirmed), it will further boost the appeal of the super SUV by being less polluting and more powerful.
UK’s Car Magazine claims that it will feature a Porsche-developed internal combustion engine, understood to have been codenamed the LK5. It’s unknown whether it will have six or eight cylinders, but it can allegedly pump out up to 600 PS (592 HP / 441 kW), and with the electric motor kicking in, the total output will supposedly stand at 820 PS (808 HP / 603 kW).

Reportedly due in 2022, the Urus PHEV might be around 250 kg (~550 lbs) heavier than its non-electrified sibling, which, at 2,200 kg (4,850 lbs), isn’t exactly a featherweight.
The Lamborghini Urus’ current twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 develops 650 PS (641 HP / 478 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the Italian super SUV model to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 305 km/h (190 mph).
Another variant, supposedly named the Urus Sport RS, is also in the pipeline, according to the same report, and it might get up to 675 PS (665 HP / 496 kW) from a slightly modified version of the existing V8.
These models should keep the Raging Bull’s exotic high-rider at the top of its game until the next generation, understood to have been pushed back to 2028, arrives.
