The past year has been challenging for a number of people and Land Rover is looking to give back by donating seven Defenders to charities in the United States.
As part of the Defender Above & Beyond Service Awards, US-based 501(c)(3)1 non-profits who specialize in certain areas can nominate themselves or be nominated by others to receive one of the vehicles.
Non-profits can be nominated by visiting a special website and filling out an entry form. It needs to be accompanied by a short video which explains what the charity is about, how it addresses the needs of a community, and how a Land Rover Defender would help them improve those efforts.

Submissions will be conducted in waves, with the first focused on charities involved in search and rescue as well as coastal and marine conservation. Submissions will close on April 7th and judges will then select the finalists. The public can then vote for their favorite charity starting on April 21st.
The process will start again for animal welfare and first responder organizations on May 3rd, before moving onto environmental, urban improvement and fire service groups on June 28th.
All seven winners will be announced on September 2nd and they’ll receive a Defender 110 S as well as a third-party vendor credit of up to $23,714 to customize the vehicle to better suit their needs. Land Rover is also throwing in $2,500 to help offset title, license and registration costs.
In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover North America CEO Joe Eberhard said “Defender vehicles have been used for various humanitarian causes around the world for decades and with its recent return to the U.S., we wanted to expand on that legacy with The Defender Above & Beyond Service Awards and celebrate organizations that know the value of community and drive to do great things with them.”
