The M3 and the M4 are pretty impressive machines. But for those who want a little more, BMW is happy to oblige with official Performance parts.
One of the parts you might be most excited to hear comes in the form of a Performance Exhaust system. It moves the car’s tailpipes in the center of the rear bumper.
Although some videos of the M Performance exhaust have popped up on YouTube, few have been this clear or kept this sustained focus.
Indeed, BMWBlog’s video below even shows a standard M car (with the particulate filter) for comparison. Although the standard exhaust doesn’t exactly sound bad, there is certainly something more aggressive and bass-y about the Performance Exhaust.

The Performance pipes are made of titanium, reducing the weight of the exhaust system by more than 10 lbs.
The sound comes from the M3 and M4’s S58 inline-six engine that makes 473 hp in standard tune and 503 in Competition trim. BMW offers an 8-speed automatic or, excitingly, a 6-speed manual transmission.
Along with the Performance exhaust, BMW is offering a fixed carbon-fiber rear wing and unique wheels available at 19-, 20-, and 21-inches. Those same wheels can be finished in Jet Black, Frozen Gunmetal Grey, or Frozen Gold.
Carbon-ceramic brakes, adjustable coilovers, and other carbon fiber parts are also available.
