Maserati, like most manufacturers of exotic cars, provides driving courses around the world. This year, it will be introducing the MC20 supercar to the courses and you can drive one.
Now in its 22nd season, Master Maserati driving courses take place in 50 countries around the world. Although most of its 7,000 customers are in Europe, some 32% of attendees take the course outside of the EU, mostly in Asia and America.
With four levels of “driving experience” to choose from, each at a different price point, you don’t necessarily have to be rich enough to own an MC20 to at least get a ride in one.
The lowest level, offered for €900 (around US$1,070 at today’s exchange rates), is the Engine Start course. This is a half-day package in which you get to drive the Ghibli Trofeo and the Levante Trofeo around a racetrack. You also get a ride in an MC20 driven by a pro driver.

The GT and Sport level courses priced between €2,400 and €4,150 (or about US$2,850-US$4,935) both take a full day and focus more on improving your driving. With onboard telemetry analysis in both and personal coaching at the Sport level, Maserati will work with drivers to make them good enough to drive the MC20 (in the GT course) or a Gran Turismo MC GT4 race car in the (in the Sport course).
Finally, there’s the two-day MC20 Master course reserved for MC20 owners. This one costs €10,000 (US$11,900) and teaches techniques and performance driving skills. You’ll even be instructed on how to drive without any driver aids.
The MC20 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that makes 621 hp thanks to fancy F1 tech. It sends its power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential. That means that it can hit 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and run all the way up to a top speed of 202 mph.
An electric powertrain is also planned that should be more powerful and quicker to 60 than the gas-powered version. Both should be pretty handy around a track, so the driving lessons will doubtless be useful to most owners.
These driving courses are set to start this summer.
