The RX-7, in particular the third-generation FD model, remains one of Mazda’s most beloved performance cars and while most would agree that its design is near-perfect, Khyzyl Saleem has decided to give it the RX-7 a wild transformation.
Rather than equipping the RX-7 with a crazy widebody kit like many of his other creations, Saleem has instead transformed it into a Shooting Brake. The resulting design is bound to divide opinions but to our eyes, looks quite nice.

To create the car, Saleem has elongated the roofline and designed thick C-pillars that taper down to the trunklid. The new roof sports a spoiler while the trunklid has also been equipped with a subtle lip spoiler.
Various other modifications have been made. For example, the RX-7 sits on a set of aftermarket wheels with a chrome finish and also rocks a new front splitter, rear diffuser, and side skirts. The car’s ride height has also been lowered and a roll cage has been fitted inside.
A little bit of digging reveals that there are a handful of FD RX-7 Shooting Brake / Wagon models in existence, although they are all one-off builds.
Prices of the FD RX-7 have been on the rise in recent years and low-mileage examples are now fetching upwards of $80,000 on the used car market.
