Mexico’s 2021 Fiat Mobi Launches From The Equivalent Of $8,600

Stellantis Mexico has launched the 2021 Fiat Mobi locally. It’s offered in three different trim levels, named the Easy, Like and Treeking, and starts at 179,900 pesos, or $8,638 at today’s exchange rates.

The entry-level has 14-inch steel wheels with caps, black door handles, daytime running lights, air conditioning, height-adjustable steering wheel, two frontal airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX anchors and 40/60 split-folding rear seats.

Priced from 201,500 pesos ($9,675), the 2021 Mobi Like rides on 14-inch aluminum wheels, has 19 cm (7.5 in) of ground clearance, reverse parking sensors and electrically adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn signals. A 3.5-inch LCD screen was added to the instrument cluster and it also gets a 7-inch infotainment system with smartphone integration, front electric windows and rear defogger.

The Mobi Trekking has an identical ground clearance to the mid-spec model and adds front fog lamps, body-colored door handles, roof rails, black side moldings, different 14-inch wheels, ‘Trekking’ stickers, new fabric upholstery, manual height adjustment for the driver’s seat and extra storage spaces. This version of Fiat’s city car is offered from 221,500 pesos ($10,635).

Based on an old platform shared with the second generation Panda and aging Lancia Ypsilon, the 2021 Mobi is powered by a tiny 1.0-liter engine. It kicks out 69 HP at 6,000 rpm and 68 pound-feet (92 Nm) of torque at 4,250 rpm, and is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. Fiat’s cheapest model on sale in Mexico returns 21.74 km/l (4.6 l/100 km / 51.1 mpg US) and is covered by a 3-year/60,000-km (37,282-mile) warranty.
