A lot of people go a few miles per hour over the speed limit and it’s not uncommon to see some going 10 mph (16 km/h) faster on the highway.
However, Michigan State Police recently caught someone going 155 mph (250 km/h) in a 55 mph (89 km) zone.
The incident happened on February 26th, when troopers were on patrol in the outskirts of Detroit. They apparently saw a Dodge Charger going 100 mph (161 km/h) over the speed limit and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was placed under arrest for reckless driving and troopers conducted a search of the vehicle. During their investigation, they found a loaded FN pistol in the center console. To make matters worse, the driver of the Charger was on parole and was taken to the Detroit Detention Center pending prosecutor review.
There’s no word on which version of the Charger was involved in the incident, but the 2021 Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye boasts a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 797 hp (594 kW / 808 PS) and 707 lb-ft (959 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds, run the quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 129 mph (208 km/h) and hit a top speed of 203 mph (327 km/h).
Of course, that isn’t the only fast Charger as the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody has a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h). It’s even more powerful this year as the 2021 model has 717 hp (535 kW / 727 PS) instead of the previous 707 hp (527 kW / 717 PS).
