As the latest-generation BMW M4 is now out on the streets, we can see just what it looks like side-by-side with its predecessor, the F82-generation M4, thanks to this comparison from BMWBlog. As you’ll probably agree, the design differences between the two are obvious and to our eyes, it’s also quite clear which the better-looking car is.
The new BMW M4 featured is finished in Sao Paulo Yellow while the older M4 is finished in its launch color of Austin Yellow. The changes continue at the front end where the new car looks worlds apart from its predecessor.

Immediately catching the eye are the hideous kidney grilles and the sleek headlights. The new car also has much sharper air intakes whereas the F82 M4’s fascia includes smaller grilles and more curves in the front bumper. In addition, the front-end of the old car appears to sit slower lower than the new one.
The stark design differences continue at the rear as the F82 M4 has much chunkier taillights than the new car. The new car’s rear bumper is also a touch simpler but does sport a striking diffuser. Both cars have quad tailpipes in the same location.
While most corners of the internet have expressed their disgust at the design of the new M4, the true sign of whether or not it is popular will depend on just how many sales BMW records of the sports car in the coming years. After all, BMW has repeatedly stated that it is committed to this bold new design language.
