Nissan has prepped a special color palette for the Ariya, complete with technological innovations in the production line that significantly trim down carbon dioxide output.
Thanks to the water-based paint that allows the shades to be applied at a lower temperature, the CO2 output for the entire paint application process has been reduced by 25 percent, Nissan claims.
As for the finishes available for its electric SUV, they include two new options, named Akatsuki Copper and Aurora Green. The former takes its name from the Japanese phrase for ‘dawn’ and honors the model’s EV tech with its enhanced metallic sparkle that highlights the conductivity of copper wires. The latter is named after the Northern Lights and appears either green or purple, depending on the viewing angle.

“The ingenuity the Nissan Ariya represents inspired us to adopt an entirely new mindset for color design”, said the color manager at Nissan Design Europe, Lesley Busby. “Ariya is the culmination of Nissan’s electric mobility expertise and a strong statement of intent for the future of EV design. We therefore worked hard to introduce a truly futuristic and technology-driven design language for the colors, analyzing them in detail to create the perfect match for Ariya’s innovative personality.”
Since white and black are the most popular new car colors globally, Nissan has prepped two such shades for the Ariya. The Pearl White is said to offer “more brilliance and clarity than ever before on a Nissan vehicle”, and is complemented by the contrasting black roof. Pearl Black, on the other hand, features an all-new pigment that “elevates the depth of the paint and creates a rich, captivating experience”.
The entire color palette comprises of four monotone and six two-tone options and also includes Pearl Blue, Gun Metallic, Tinted Red, Warm Silver, Burgundy and Ceramic Grey.
