Last week, the long-awaited Pagani Huayra R was revealed, although there was a bit of a caveat to its launch.

You see, rather than presenting the car through photos and videos, the Italian car manufacturer only showed a series of official renderings. Now, Pagani has released the first video of the Huayra R but once again, it doesn’t actually show the track-focused hypercar in the flesh and is instead an animation.

The clip shows the Huayra speeding around the famed Imola circuit in Italy and while it has been quite well done, we’re still waiting to see what the actual car will look like. Pagani has also tried to preview the sound of the car’s naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 in this video but we suspect it will sound much better in the flesh.

Pagani has confirmed that the aforementioned V12 of the Huayra R has been co-developed with HWA AG and pumps out a remarkable 838 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. Coupled to this engine is a six-speed sequential transmission that was also developed with HWA AG and transmits power to the rear wheels.

Underpinning the hypercar is a new monocoque that uses the latest composite technologies and is said to provide 16 per cent greater torsional rigidity as well as a 51 per cent increase in flexural rigidity compared to the road-going Huayra. Moreover, weight has been kept to a minimum as the Huayra R tips the scales at just 2,315 lbs (1,050 kg).
