Images have leaked online in China reportedly showing the production-ready 2022 Honda Civic Sedan.
The Japanese car manufacturer previewed the new Civic in North American specification with a bright orange sedan prototype in November last year and as we suspected, the production model looks virtually identical even if this is the Chinese market model. As such, it looks more like a mini Honda Accord than its predecessor, the outgoing 10th-generation Civic.

The front of the production model features the same headlights as the 2022 Civic Prototype, complete with LED daytime running lights. The upper grille, finished in black, has also gone unchanged. Differentiating the production model from the prototype are the inclusion of fog lights and thick black shrouds on the outer edges of the bumper. Honda has also opted for a more conservative mesh design in the lower grille, as these photos sourced from China that appeared on the Civic 11 forum reveal.
Few changes have been made to the sides of the car, meaning the wing mirrors are mounted on the doors rather than the A-pillars. Gone are the black side skirt extensions of the prototype.
As for the rear, the taillights aren’t quite as tinted as the prototype but retain the same shape. Badging on the car pictured confirms this is a Chinese-spec model but those sold in international markets will look virtually identical sans some minor market-specific details.
Late last year, Honda showed a near-production “prototype” version of the new Civic Sedan
Photos of the new model’s interior have yet to hit the web but a rendering released by Honda confirms the cabin will be significantly different than the outgoing model. For example, there will be a larger touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard, a honeycomb mesh across the dashboard concealing the air vents, and a new steering wheel.
Handling production of the 2022 Honda Civic will be the automaker’s factory in Greensburg, Indiana.
