Kia has just released the first official photos of its all-electric EV6, its first dedicated battery electric vehicle.

The car will celebrate its official premiere later this month and while technical specifications are still under wraps, these images showcase the EV6’s striking design in detail. While it is based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the Ioniq 5, it looks very different.

Premiering on the new EV6 is Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy that will inform the design of all future Kia models. This philosophy is based on five key design pillars; ‘Bold for Nature’, ‘Joy for Reason’, ‘Power to Progress’, ‘Technology for Life’, and ‘Tension and Serenity’.

The front of the Kia EV6 features striking headlights and LED daytime running lights, forming the car’s ‘Digital Tiger Face,’ a design progression evoking Kia’s tiger nose grille. Elsewhere, the new Kia adopts a swept-back windshield, bold rear haunches, a purposeful character line running along the bottom of the doors, and sloping C-pillars. The EV6 also features a complex LED taillight arrangement.

The interior is also very distinct from other current Kia models and includes a curved screen encompassing both the all-digital gauge cluster and the navigation screen. The EV6 also features a simple two-spoke steering wheel not dissimilar to new Genesis models like the GV80. Control of the HVAC system is done through touchscreen buttons that provide haptic feedback. Kia also notes that the seats of the EV6 are made using recycled plastics.

Stay tuned to Carscoops in the coming days for the official premiere of the EV6.
