The Formentor is Cupra’s first stand-alone model that was developed exclusively for Seat’s performance sub-brand.
Based on the MQB Evo platform, the sporty coupe SUV is available with different powertrains, including two plug-in hybrids and Audi Sport’s 2.5-liter five-pot.

This is the VZ model, whose name comes from the Spanish word ‘veloz’ (fast / speed), and it uses the Group’s familiar 2.0-liter TSI. The turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine produces 310 PS (306 HP / 228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque and is mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and 4Drive all-wheel drive. The configuration allows it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and reach a 250 km/h (155 mph) top speed.
The Formentor offers decent interior space, though the sloping roofline does eat into the rear headroom. Up front, occupants are surrounded by copper accents and ambient lighting. A large infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster are part of the equipment list, alongside the sports seats with integrated headrests.
