The new generation BMW M3 is one of the hottest cars of the moment. And with all eyes on it, it’s been subjected to all kinds of tests, including this one that focuses solely on the straight-line performance.
The 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration of an M3 Competition was the first one measured on the third-party device, and it was recorded at 3.77 seconds. Then it managed to run the quarter-mile in a hair under 11 and a half seconds, and hit the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark in 11.86 seconds.

The M3 Competition took 21.1 seconds to push to 250 km/h (155 mph), which is a couple of a seconds more than it takes the Dacia Spring to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph). With the throttle floored, it went beyond the electronically limited top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph) which comes with the optional M Driver’s Package, as otherwise, the max speed is capped at 250 km/h (155 mph).
The M3 Competition has 510 PS (503 HP / 375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque produced by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine and, officially, it can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds (0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds). The entry-level M3 packs the same engine but it is less powerful, at 479 PS (473 HP / 352 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft).
