Customer deliveries of the 2021 Kia Carnival only recently kicked off and already, one example has been wrecked in a crash and will soon be offered up for auction through a salvage yard.
This Carnival has been posted online by IAAI and has just 1,005 miles on the clock. Most of the damage has been sustained to the rear of the vehicle, suggesting that it was rear-ended at relatively high-speed.
The listing says the estimated repair costs to return the Carnival back to its former state will be $17,852. With that in mind, we don’t actually expect someone to purchase it with the intention of fixing it up and trying to sell it for a profit. Instead, it seems far more likely that someone will buy it with the intention of parting out and selling some of its key components.

The incident the Carnival was involved in has left the rear fascia and bumper caved in and blown out the rear window. It seems likely that some damage was also done to the rear crash structure of the Kia, hence why it would be so expensive to repair.
IAAI notes that the Carnival stills runs and drives, indicating that the 3.5-liter GDI V6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission are still in good working order and could be easily removed and sold. The interior also appears to have avoided damage.
