A 20-year-old from Sydney, Australia crashed his dad’s Ford Mustang into a power pole in the Mount Druitt area.
Local publication 7 News asserts that the 20-year-old took a joyride in his dad’s Mustang, a car he was prohibited from driving because of his probational license. His dad had only purchased the American muscle car the week before and planned to use it at his daughter’s upcoming wedding.

This doesn’t appear to be a normal Mustang either. The lime green paint job and black decals suggest that it is a limited-edition R-Spec model, a variant built by Ford Australia and local tuning outfit Herrod Performance. The car could be considered as the Aussie equivalent of the Mustang Shelby GT500 and features a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 700 hp and 612 lb-ft (830 Nm) of torque.
Production of the Mustang R-Spec is capped at just 500 units and as standard it comes with a six-speed manual transmission. Local prices start at AU$99,980 plus on-road costs.
Images taken after the crash reveal the extent of the damage done to the Mustang. The entire front fascia has been caved in following the impact with the pole and the airbags have been deployed. Making things even worse for the owner of the car is the fact that because his son wasn’t permitted to drive the car, his insurance is null and void.
