The Lamborghini Urus has become a favorite among athletes, movie stars, and singers, and one of the celebs to have chosen the Italian super SUV is Tony Iommi.
The Black Sabbath rock legend, who used to own two Espadas in the 1970s and then got a Miura SV, has become hooked up on the Urus the moment he set foot inside.
“When the Urus came out, I fell in love with it. It drives well and it’s comfortable, I was impressed with it the first time I tried it during a track day. It was great and very responsive”, Iommi said. “When I put my foot down, I couldn’t believe it: it didn’t seem right, with a car of that size going that fast. I had to own it. And I’ve gone mad on blue all of a sudden, so it had to be blue.”
Review: Is The Lamborghini Urus Still The Best Performance SUV On The Market?
Having traveled the world for half a century, filling concert halls and stadiums, and inspiring generation after generation, together with frontman Ozzy Osbourne, drummer Bill Ward and bassist Geezer Butler, the 73-year old is now relaxing at home, but can’t wait to get behind the wheel of his Urus once the situation allows it.
“It’s nice to be in one spot for a bit, and – I can’t believe it – this is the longest I’ve ever been in one place. But when it will be possible to travel again, I’ll drive the Urus to our house down in Sandbanks, by the sea in Dorset”.
The Urus came out at the end of 2017, sharing its construction with the VW Group’s large SUVs, including the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, and Bentley Bentayga. It’s powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, making 650 PS (641 HP / 478 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque, and it’s capable of accelerating to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds, and up to 306 km/h (190 mph).
The Raging Bull is currently working on a facelift that might get a new plug-in hybrid powertrain option.
