BMW has just introduced a special variant of the 8-Series Gran Coupe to the Japanese market dubbed the Collector’s Edition.
The 8-Series Gran Coupe Collector’s Edition is available exclusively in 840i Gran Coupe guise, meaning it is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six pumping out 335 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.
The Collector’s Edition is available in four color options; Aventurine Red, Azurite Black, Davit Grey, and Tanzinite Blue. Regardless which color customers choose, it also comes standard with the M Sport package, 20-inch 729 M bi-color wheels, and a Merino Ivory White leather interior with an Alcantara headliner.

The Collector’s Edition will set back Japanese buyers 15 million yen, or the equivalent of about $145,000 in the U.S. BMW hasn’t said whether or not production of the model will be limited.
In overseas markets, the 840i Gran Coupe comes in rear-wheel drive configuration with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and is able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a respectable 5.2 seconds, but that figure drops to 4.9 seconds with the optional xDrive all-wheel drive system. In both cases, top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
Of course, the 8-Series Gran Coupe is available in a host of different guises, with the range being topped out by the M8 Competition Gran Coupe complete with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 delivering 616 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque.
