BMW has reported positive sales figures for the first quarter of the year in North America.
During the first three months of 2021, the German car manufacturer sold a total of 71,433 vehicles, a 20.1 percent increase over the 59,455 vehicles it shifted in Q1 2020. As for Mini, it too experienced a 20 percent jump, reporting 6,285 sales throughout the first quarter.

Figures released by BMW revealed that sales of SUVs accounted for 58 percent of total sales in Q1 while “sedan sales were boosted by the launches of the all-new BMW M3 and M4,” the company states.
More specifically, 9,426 3-Series models were sold in the first quarter, which was actually an 11.2 percent decrease from Q1 2020. Meanwhile, sales of the 4-Series jumped by 117.8 percent to 4,785. BMW also reported a 19.2 percent increase in 5-Series and a 13.9 percent increase in 7-Series sales. Interestingly, sales of the 8-Series dropped by 11.3 per cent to 1,502 vehicles.
Among the biggest losers from the BMW brand were the i8, with deliveries plummeting by 88 percent, which was to be expected as its production has ended. Deliveries of the Z4 fell by 68.8 percent, and those of the X2 by 41.5 percent.
As mentioned, sales of BMWs SUVs were strong. A grand total of 14,988 X3s were sold last year, a 41.2 percent increase over the same perion in 2020. Sales of the X5, X6, and X7 also jumped by 19.4, 62.9 and 4.0 percent respectively.
