Buick has unveiled the Envision Plus and Verano Pro, ahead of the Shanghai Auto Show.

Starting with the crossover, the Envision Plus is a seven seater that is based on the Envision S. It features a familiar design, but adopts longer rear doors, less adventurous bodywork and a gently sloping roof. The model also has an expanded greenhouse and a more upright rear end.

In terms of size, the Envision Plus measures 190.7 inches (4,845 mm) long, 74.1 inches (1,883 mm) wide and 66.7 inches (1,695 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 111.5 inches (2,833 mm). This makes the crossover 7.2 inches (183 mm) longer and 2.1-2.5 inches (54-64 mm) taller than the standard model, with a wheelbase that grows by 2.1 inches (54 mm).

The crossover was unveiled in the range-topping Avenir trim, which features a unique grille and Matrix Pixel LED headlights. Other highlights include 20-inch aluminum wheels and exclusive taillights with “clear lenses that showcase the jeweled design inside.”

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 233 hp (174 kW / 237 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It features mild hybrid technology and is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Moving on, Buick also took the wraps off the Verano Pro. It’s billed as a “premium family sedan” that “builds on Buick’s DNA of sculptural beauty with a more youthful and dynamic appearance to resonate with the younger generation in China.”

Buick didn’t go into many specifics, but the model features a stylish grille that is flanked by slender headlights and sporty air intakes. We can also see streamlined bodywork, a sportier greenhouse and an evolutionary rear end.

A GS variant will also be available and it’s distinguished by a honeycomb mesh grille, exclusive side skirts and a black roof. The model also has dark mirrors, window trim and wheels to provide a “sense of power and motion.” Buick also alluded to customization as the company said “owners will be able to tailor their vehicles through replaceable front and rear bumpers, side panels and rear wing components.”

While the exterior is evolutionary, the cabin is decidedly high-tech as it features a freestanding 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 10.25-inch infotainment system. The latter boasts GPS navigation, OnStar, and enhanced voice recognition technology.

Buick didn’t go into many details, but confirmed the model has an all-new turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with direct injection. The company didn’t mention specifications, but it should be an improvement over the current 1.0- and 1.3-liter turbos with up to 162 hp (122 kW / 165 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque.

Besides unveiling two new models, Buick announced plans to introduce five electric vehicles in China by 2025. Little is known about them, but the company confirmed some will ride on the Ultium platform which underpins the Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Hummer EVs.
