VT Holdings, the Japanese importer of the Caterham Seven for the last 12 years, has acquired Caterham Cars for an undisclosed sum.
Piston Heads reports that it saw an internal document referring to the sale and confirmed it with Caterham, who intended to announce the sale on Tuesday. According to the email, the change in ownership was effective March 31.
VT Holdings is owned by Kazuho Takahashi, who has competed in Japanese Super GT, JGTC, and Super Taikyu racing over the last 20 years.
Along with Caterhams, VT Holdings also imports Lotuses and Royal Enfield motorcycles into the country.

“VT Holdings is proud to welcome Caterham to the group,” said Takahashi. “We have not only purchased a globally renowned performance car manufacturer but become custodians of a motoring legend. We will protect and develop the Seven to meet the legislative challenges that lie ahead.”
That’s good news for fans of the Seven, which has shown little sign of keeping up with regulations that are making internal combustion engines harder and harder to sell. However the team at VT Holdings plans to keep the Seven on the road, and Graham Macdonald, Caterham Cars CEO, is confident they will succeed.
“Takahashi-san and the team truly understand the DNA of the Caterham brand, our heritage, our customers, and our passions,” said Macdonald. “As a team, we’re all excited about starting to write the next chapter for this very special brand.”
