The world of electric vehicles is heating up and despite being a revhead in the truest sense, there are some EVs that do tickle the fancy of Top Gear’s Chris Harris.
The first video featured below is the journalist’s fast electric car buying guide. It starts out with EVs priced below the £30,000 ($41,000) mark and includes the Mazda MX-30, Honda e, Seat Mii Electric, and the funky e-208 from Peugeot. According to Harris, it is the e-208 that is the pick of the bunch as it combines impressive range with attractive styling.

The second category is dedicated to EVs priced below £50,000 ($68,910). First up is the Polestar 2, a car that Harris says drives better than a Tesla while having a superior interior. It is let down by the charging network, however. Next up is the VW ID.3, a car that Harris considers as a new Golf, meaning he doesn’t find it all that exciting. The journalist also isn’t a huge fan of the Ford Mustang Mach-E but he does love the Tesla Model 3, saying it is the EV to buy for under £50,000.
The final category is for EVs priced at over £50,000, featuring the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Audi e-tron, and the Porsche Taycan. Unsurprisingly, it is the Taycan that gets the thumbs up.
As for the second video, it features Harris speaking with Top Gear Magazine’s Jack Rix about all things EVs, in particular the updated Tesla Model S and its controversial yoke steering wheel.
