In Formula 1, oftentimes the greatest (and most memorable) rivalries brew among two drivers, whether they are in different teams or teammates. Codemasters’ F1 2021, launching on Friday, July 16, now gives you the opportunity to have the same experience.
Officially announced today, F1 2021 will come with this season’s full collection of races, drivers, and teams, including three new circuits, Portimão, Imola, and Jeddah available as free post-launch downloads. It will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
Along with allowing you to cosplay as your favorite real-world F1 driver, the game will also allow you to start your own F1 career with a character of your own creation.

New for 2021 is the two-player online career mode. This allows you to race in a simultaneous race season with another player online, giving you the opportunity to play as rivals on different teams whose competition simmers over in loud outbursts, or as teammates, whose hatred for one another may or may not be kept under the surface. No media handlers are provided to downplay the intra-team rivalry, though.
In this mode, each driver can pick their own difficulty level, meaning that amateurs can play along with experienced gamers.
For those who actually want to play the game with another person in the room, there’s also a split-screen two-player mode for offline fun. Other modes include a driver manager mode, short seasons, as well as cars from both the F1 and F2 series.
“We are creating more choice and new ways to play. Real-Season Start allows players to align their career to the F1 season,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director. “The addition of two-player Career brings new challenges to the iconic game mode. Players can now choose to play co-operatively and share in the success or compete and strive for personal glory.”
