Straight out of the box, the BMW M340i xDrive is a quite capable machine thanks to its 374 hp and 500 Nm (368.8 lb/ft) of torque.

Dahler’s “competition line” hasn’t messed with the powertrain’s 48-volt mild-hybrid system that uses a starter generator and an additional battery and adds 11 hp; it’s the turbocharged B58 inline-six engine that has gone under the knife.

The tuner says they’ve put the engine “through an additional course of power-enhancing treatment,” and have “extracted everything from the engine and the entire vehicle that makes sense and that provides (driving) fun.”

If you think that all sounds a tad vague, you’d be right. Dahler doesn’t exactly delve into the technicalities of how they’ve increased output. But the M340i xDrive (G20/G21) “DCL dAHLer competition line” promises to deliver performance and precision unlike any other 340i on the road today. It comes in two stages. Level one upgrade raises output to 435 hp (320 kW) and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of torque and level two sees power increased to 450 hp (334 kW) and 472 lb-ft (640 Nm).

You also get a Dahler-built stainless steel exhaust system inclusive of four ceramic-coated 90 mm Dahler tailpipes. There’s also a valve-controlled exhaust system on offer, giving the driver control over noise levels. However, unlike the conversion package and standard Dahler stainless steel exhaust system, this hasn’t received approval for use within the EU and Switzerland.

Go the whole hog with the complete conversion package, and you get a Dahler-built competition coilover suspension and a set of ultra-light 20-inch Dahler CDC1 forged wheels that are up to 35% lighter than the standard wheels, “greatly increasing dynamics and acceleration.”

The goodies don’t end there. Dahler offers body parts built in-house which include front splitters manufactured using ultra-light, high quality and flexible PU-RIM, M-style mirror caps that are manufactured using high-quality ABS material on request, genuine carbon fiber rear spoilers, a roof antenna made of carbon fiber, and a selection of three different front grille designs.
