The owner of a Dodge Challenger in the U.S. recently discovered the hard way what happens when you have more ambition than driving skills.

This video was filmed at a recent car meet or ‘sideshow’ that appears to have taken place in Los Angeles in late March. Various different performance cars are shown doing donuts and burnouts and, unlike a number of other incidents we’ve seen, this time it wasn’t a Ford Mustang that crashed but rather one of its main rivals.

The Dodge Challenger can be seen performing a burnout in a parking lot and then trying to do a donut when the driver loses control and slams head-on into the concrete base of a lamp post in the parking lot. Making the scene all the more frightening is the fact that there was a young man standing on top of that concrete base and jumped at the last moment, thus avoiding being hit by the car.

Although the Dodge wasn’t traveling particularly fast at the time it hit the lamp post, it suffered quite a lot of damage. In fact, one of the headlights explodes on impact, while the bumper and grille are also ripped from the muscle car.

It appears the Challenger in question was a V6 model, meaning it has a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated Pentastar V6 with 305 hp and 267 lb-ft (363 Nm) of torque. Not as powerful as a V8-powered model, yet definitely more than enough to get you into trouble.
