Dodge has announced that it will build more Durango SRT Hellcat models than originally planned.
The car manufacturer had originally intended on building the Durango SRT Hellcat for just six months, limiting production to 2,000 units. It has since confirmed that everyone who has placed an order with a Dodge dealership will receive an allocation and won’t miss out.

“Any time you launch a limited-production vehicle and plan to build fewer units than the number of Dodge dealers across the country, you risk leaving a lot of customers very unhappy,” director of Dodge Operations North America, Bob Broderdorf, told Dodge Garage.
“As we finalized the production plan for this amazing SUV, we found a way to move some 6.2-liter Hemi Hellcat V8 engines from other vehicles to ensure every ‘sold order’ in our systems will get built. We didn’t want to disappoint these customers and wanted to find a way to ensure they are part of the Brotherhood of Muscle.”
Broderdorf did not specify just how many extra Durango SRT Hellcats will be built, although the number isn’t expected to be particularly high.
Like other Dodge Hellcat models, the Durango SRT Hellcat features the company’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that’s churning out 710 hp and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque. This engine sends all of its power through an eight-speed automatic transmission to both axles, allowing the SUV to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 3.5 seconds and reach a 180 mph (290 km/h) top speed.
