The Tesla Cybertruck has yet to hit the production line but the automaker recently brought a show car to its Gigafactory site in Texas.
This marks one of the first times the Cybertruck has been seen since its unveiling in November 2019 and was used to help rally workers at the factory near Austin that will eventually handle production of the all-electric pickup. Moreover, the prototype was driven by none other than Elon Musk himself.

It is understood that the Cybertruck in question is probably the same prototype that was first shown by the car manufacturer almost 18 months ago. As such, it is not the production-ready version that is tipped to undergo a few changes before it reaches the hands of customers. During the company’s Q3 2020 earnings call, Musk stated that Tesla is making “small improvements” to the truck’s design, stating that it will be better than the original model.

Production of the Cybertruck was tipped to commence this year but it is appearing increasingly unlikely that will be the case. In fact, Musk admitted that Tesla will be “lucky” if they start Cybertruck deliveries by the end of the year, due in part to challenges related to new manufacturing methods needed to make it. Asked on Twitter over the weekend if deliveries of the Cybertruck remain on track, Musk ignored (or misinterpreted) the question, stating there will be some limited production of the Model Y at the Austin site this year and high-volume production in 2022.
