Genesis took to the skies in Shanghai on March 29 with a record-setting number of drones. The display showed off the its logo and was designed to celebrate the brand’s entry into China.

The aerial display featured 3,281 drones at its climax, giving Genesis an official Guinness World Record for “The Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) Airborne Simultaneously.” The brand calls it “an exclusive first look into the progressive approach of Genesis to reshape the entire luxury experience for Chinese customers.”

Genesis showed off the G80 sedan and the GV80 SUV at the event.

“Our first-ever moment in China was a special opportunity to engage with our audience and show what Genesis is about,” said Markus Henne, CEO of Genesis Motor China. “With this record-breaking drone performance, we brought our brand story and philosophy to life for many Chinese consumers.”

China for established luxury brands like Audi, Mercedes, and BMW. Its sheer size means that, for some automakers, it has rapidly become the most important single market by volume.

“Today marks the beginning of another audacious chapter for Genesis,” said Jaehoon Chang, Global Head of Genesis brand. “The Chinese market serves a critical role in the development of our global business, and we are very excited to present the next generation luxury for China.”

Genesis has promised to introduce a “One Price Promise” to ensure that prices remain the same across all of its sales channels, including online. It has also promised one-to-one customer service to make the ownership experience as enjoyable as possible.

“Launching the brand in China represents a significant, perhaps the most important, new chapter in our brand’s history,” said Henne. “Genesis will focus on brand building in the early stages, and we will continue to reveal more highlights of how we plan to appeal to our Chinese audience.”
