Talking about the new-gen Rolls-Royce Ghost without using a bunch of adjectives is close to impossible. And for good reasons, because this is one of the most luxurious, classy and elegant high-end sedans that money can buy today.
Since it premiered last fall, we have had the chance to see what it’s made of in the numerous video reviews. Mind you, this isn’t the typical feedback-filled footage, as you will struggle to hear something with the car being as quiet as a church mouse, but it’s still an interesting way to find out more about it while it cruises the streets at night.
Review: Is The New 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost As Good As It Claims To Be?
The 2021 Ghost is more Rolls-Royce than ever. It is built on the same platform as the Phantom and Cullinan, unlike the old one that was based on the BMW 7-Series, so it’s more refined. You will still find some German parts inside, but other than that, it’s a true British luxury machine, albeit one with a very advanced suspension, all-wheel steering and a meaty 6.75-liter V12 engine, with twin turbocharging, that gives it sports car-like performance, with less thrills.
The power unit delivers 563 HP (571 PS / 420 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, enabling a 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 4.6 seconds, and supporting a top speed that has been electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
Like anything with a Rolls-Royce badge on it, the new Ghost isn’t affordable. It has a recommended retail price of around £280,000 (~$390,000) in the United Kingdom and $332,500 in the United States. And with all the bells and whistles, it comes very close to costing almost half a million.
