Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past six months, you will have no doubt seen various reviews and performance tests of the Toyota GR Yaris. This particular video is yet another performance test of the GR Yaris but is a little different as it was filmed on the Autobahn.
In European specification, the GR Yaris’ turbocharged 1.6-liter G16E-GTS three-cylinder produces 257 hp and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels courtesy of a six-speed manual transmission and the little Yaris isn’t just a pocket rocket around a race circuit, but it is also a bit of a weapon in a straight line.

During its test, AutoTopNL was able to launch the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 5.16 seconds, a seriously impressive time and not one you could match in any of the GR Yaris’s front-wheel drive rivals like the Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai i30 N and Renault Megane R.S. Trophy.
It’s not just the car’s 0-62 mph time that is impressive. When provided with some added space to showcase its pace, it runs from 62 mph to 124 mph (200 km/h) in less than 16 seconds. The driver in this video then continues to push the hot hatch to an indicated top speed of 144 mph (232 km/h), which is actually slightly more than the car’s electronically limited top speed of 142 mph (228 km/h).
