The Hyundai Elantra N is in the final stages of testing and it is expected to launch for the 2022 model year in the United States.
So far, the Korean brand’s performance division has no plans of offering it on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, but they won’t rule it out either.
Speaking to journalists at the unveiling of the Kona N sporty crossover, Hyundai’s research and development chief, Albert Biermann, said that they might actually consider bringing it to Europe, if there is enough demand.

“We are developing an Elantra N – it’s already started racing in the US, and participated in the launch event of the Elantra”, Biermann said, cited by Autocar. “At this point, the Elantra N is not planned for Europe and other markets, but if you can create enough demand, I will not rule out that it could be considered”, he added. “That could be an interesting next N vehicle for Europe and other markets.”
Sitting at the top of the Elantra range, the hot N model will follow in the footsteps of the N-badged i20, i30, Veloster and Kona. It will feature a more aggressive styling, with redesigned front and rear bumpers, larger air intakes, bigger side skirts, four-fin diffuser with round exhaust pipes on each side, and a wing mounted on the boot lid.
It will also get exclusive wheels, uprated brakes, firmer suspension and the company’s 2.0-liter turbo-four, making 275 HP. The model will launch with front-wheel drive and a choice between a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
