The sections of the German Autobahn with no speed limits are true Meccas for driving enthusiasts, who often share videos of the hottest cars on the planet being subjected to top speed runs.

In this case, the main star was the brilliant Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, which was filmed in a continuous sprint, hitting well over 300 km/h (186 mph) with the traction control switched off.

Review: See What The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Is Made Of

If you were to ask Porsche how fast the latest 718 Cayman GT4 is, then they would tell you that it will run out of breath at 189 mph (304 km/h), and that it needs 4.4 seconds to complete the 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration (0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds).

Hooked up to a six-speed manual transmission is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine. The boxer unit produces 414 HP (420 PS / 309 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. This makes it 35 HP (35 PS / 26 kW) more powerful than the base 911 Carrera, which, at $99,200 in the United States, is $10,000 cheaper than the 718 Cayman GT4. The entry-level 718 Cayman, on the other hand, is accompanied by a $59,900 MSRP, offering 300 HP for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) of just under 5 seconds.

The 718 Cayman family is about to become much hotter with the introduction of the GT4 RS. Currently in the development phase, it is expected to be introduced later this year, with more upgrades over the regular GT4. Power will be supplied by the same engine, yet the output and torque are well preserved secrets. Still, it could produce between 450 and 500 HP, though the latter scenario seems overly enthusiastic at this point.
