At the Auto Shanghai 2021, Geely’s Lynk & Co has presented its latest SUV, the 09. Based on the same platform as the Volvo XC90, the sister company has unveiled few details but does say it will be PHEV-only.
Getting a thorough going over by the Lynk & Co design team, it shares the high headlight, low grille design that marks out the brand. That’s matched to a high beltline and a rugged two-box design. A silver strake in the door adds a bit of visual flair.
The car is set to be fully unveiled later today, so details are still slim, but the XC90 T8 AWD Recharge gets total system output of 386 hp from its super- and turbocharged inline-four paired with a 65 kW electric motor. Power is supplied by an 11.6 kWh battery that’s located centrally in the transmission tunnel of the car.

The 09 is the largest SUV in Lynk & Co’s lineup. Ranging from 01 to (now) 09, all based on Volvo chassis. Both owned by Geely, the Chinese company bought the Swedish one in 2010.
In February, Geely and Volvo announced that they would spin off their powertrain operations into a new company designed to supply Geely’s many brands. The company will produce internal combustion engines, transmissions, and a next-gen dual-motor hybrid system.
The Lynk & Co 09 will be built at the brand’s Meishan plant in China. It will go into production shortly after its debut at Shanghai Auto 2021 this week.
