Ford is eager to show the world that electric vehicles can be fun and exciting and with the Mustang Mach-E 1400 and all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet, it has done just that. However, which of the two is the quickest in a straight line?

The covers were taken off the wild Mustang Mach-E 1400 in July last year. Built as a technical showcase, it has an extraordinary seven electric motors that combine to produce 1,400 hp. Three of the electric motors are located at the front while the remaining four are found at the rear, providing the Mach-E 1400 with all-wheel drive.

Driving the wild creation is a 56.8 kWh battery pack with nickel manganese cobalt pouch cells. The car offers track, drag racing, and Gymkhana setups.

In the other corner is the electric Mustang Cobra Jet. Revealed just a few months after the Mach-E 1400, it is equipped with four electric motors that churn out 1,502 hp through the rear wheels. Ford says it can run down the quarter-mile in 8.27 seconds at 168 mph (270 km/h).

In the first race between the two, the driver of the Mach-E 1400 jumps the start but then appeared to let off the throttle as the cars ran down the quarter mile. The second race is much more intriguing as off the line, the Mach-E gets the better launch thanks to its all-wheel drive but as the speeds increase, the Mustang Cobra Jet managed to blast past and take the win.
