We’ve added new photos of MG’s conceptual Cybersteer electric roadster from the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. Check them out below. (Updated 4/20/2021)
MG’s new two-seater sports car concept draws inspiration from the classic MGB Roadster for its design while riding on an all-electric architecture. The company claims that it’ll cover around 500 miles (800 km) on a full charge while achieving 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3 seconds too. The SAIC-owned MG didn’t reveal any horsepower figures or battery specs.

The front end of the new Cyberster concept features a classically shaped MG grille that’s also serving as an air duct to ensure airflow over the vehicle’s chassis while the ‘Magic Eye’ headlights open when switched on. The bodywork also features LED strips running down its sides and a ’kamm tail’ flat rear end with a distinctive LED light signature that “echoes MG’s British heritage.
The interior is purely driver-centric, separating the cockpit for the driver and passenger, and comes with a large digital instrument cluster and a second central screen. The electric Cyberster also comes with 5G connectivity, ‘zero gravity’ seats with floating head restraints, as well as door panels and red leather handles that “reflect the ‘laser belt’ that runs down the car’s exterior”.
“The Cyberster is a bold statement that looks strongly into MG’s future, touching on our heritage but more importantly building on our technology and advanced design,” said Carl Gotham, Director of SAIC Design Advanced London. “Cyberster is a hugely exciting concept for us.”
