Few Porsche models are as iconic as the 356A and if you have some spare cash sitting in your bank account, a stunning example is currently up for auction through Bring A Trailer.
This 356A is a 1959 model that has been modified for use in vintage rally events. It is being sold with a spare wheel and tire, a fire extinguisher, engine build records, and a clean California title. Bidding had reached $85,000 with six days left in the auction.

The car left the Porsche factory painted black but has since been repainted Meissen Blue. It includes a Le Mans-style fuel filler, a vented engine cover, leather hood straps, a driver-side mirror, and driving lights with yellow bulbs. Sticking the car to the pavement are 175/70 Avon radial tires wrapped around 15-inch alloy wheels. The car has also been upgraded with disc brakes at all four corners and Koni shocks, the listing reveals.
Found in the cabin are black bucket seats with vinyl bolsters and cloth center sections paired with matching door panels, a body-color metal dashboard, and gray carpets. A roll bar has also been fitted behind the seats and the car features a fire extinguisher, Impact Racing harnesses, and Lexan side windows. There’s also a three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel.
The classic Porsche has been equipped with a replacement 1.7-liter flat-four engine that was modified in 2013 and is coupled to a four-speed manual transaxle. The listing mentions that the car was once owned by 1985 Indianapolis 500 winner Danny Sullivan.
