NIO has achieved a production milestone, with its 100,000th vehicle, an ES8 electric SUV, rolling off the assembly line at the JAC-NIO manufacturing site in Hefei, China, earlier this week.
Celebrated by the company’s staff and owners of the ES8, ES6 and EC6, the achievement comes nine months after the assembly of NIO’s 50,000th SUV and 1,046 days since the production of their flagship model started.

Slightly bigger than the Audi E-Tron and with a wheelbase that’s 3,010 mm (118.5 in) long, the NIO ES8 was presented in 2017. Production started one year later, and the model is offered with a dual-motor setup, eAWD and up to three battery sizes, the biggest of which has a capacity of 100 kWh and offers an NEDC-estimated range of up to 360 miles (580 km) under ideal driving conditions. The ES8 has 643 HP and 619 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque and sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
In March alone, NIO delivered a total of 7,257 vehicles, an impressive 373 percent increase over the same month in 2020. The ES8 accounted for 1,529 units, whereas the ES6 five-seat electric SUV and the EC6 electric coupe SUV accounted for 3,152 and 2,576 sales respectively.
The brand’s overall sales in the first quarter of the year went up by 423 percent, setting a new quarterly record with a total of 20,060 cars shipped to their owners. Cumulative sales of the ES8, ES6 and EC6 reached 95,701 units by the end of March.
