Skoda Shows Official Sketches Of 2021 Fabia, Launch Set For May 4

Skoda has confirmed that the new generation Fabia will premiere on May 4 and also released new sketches that preview its new subcompact hatchback.

As usual, sketches tend to exaggerate the design of the actual car, but, apart from the huge wheels, we expect it to be more or less the same. Previous sightings of camouflaged prototypes have revealed an evolutionary design, with less pronounced wheel arches, more upright rear windows and roofline, regular door handles and cleaner-looking profile, though Skoda claims the sides feature new lines inspired by the triangular section of the Czech flag.

Moreover, the new Fabia will feature slimmer headlights with integrated DRLs,a bigger grille and a slightly more arched roofline that ends with a larger spoiler. The shape of the tailgate hasn’t changed that much, but the taillights have.

Inside, the fourth generation Fabia will get a new infotainment system, with a standard 6.8-inch screen or an optional 9.2-inch one, as well as a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. It will get additional storage spaces and a USB-C connector in the rearview mirror, and will continue to be offered with an ice-scraper in the fuel tank cap and a parking card holder.

The engine family will comprise of the 65 and 80 PS (64-79 HP / 48-59 kW) naturally aspirated 1.0-liter three-cylinder units mated to a five-speed manual transmission. A turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 95 and 110 PS (94-109 HP / 70-81 kW), coupled to a five-speed manual in the lesser version and a six-speed manual or optional seven-speed DSG in the more powerful one, will also be offered, while a 150 PS (147 HP / 110 kW) 1.5-liter mill hooked up to a seven-speed DSG will also be available.

Drivers will be aided by new safety gear, including a Travel Assist package that brings semi-automated functions.
