A stolen ambulance led police on a dramatic chase in Dallas, Texas on Monday.

Local authorities state that the ambulance was taken from Fire Station No. 53 on Monday morning and later spotted in the afternoon in southeast Dallas County. Police tried to pull over the male driver but he refused to stop and led them on a chase for nearly two hours.

NBCDFW reports that the man driving the ambulance passed through Dallas County, Kaufman County, and Collin County and at times during the chase, drove into oncoming traffic. Footage of the chase shows the man driving along highways and suburban streets in his attempts to evade the authorities. The man even drove across lawns. Unfortunately for him, it is hard to blend in with traffic while driving a bright red ambulance.

Local media reports that at one stage, the ambulance bottomed out on a curb, prompting the driver to bail out and attempt to outrun police on foot, all while trying to hold up his pants to stop them from falling down. He quickly found himself cornered in a fenced area and was taken into custody.

Curiously, this very same ambulance was stolen from the same fire station in February 2020 and driven to Louisiana before the driver was stopped.
