The Lexus LC 500 Convertible could be considered the last of a dying breed thanks to its high-revving, naturally aspirated V8, exactly the type of powertrain that emissions regulations are killing off.
The 5.0-liter V8 pumps out 471 hp at 7,100 rpm and 398 lb-ft (539 Nm) when slotted into the LC 500 Convertible and is mated to a Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission. The car can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.6 seconds and while that’s perhaps not quite as quick as the LC 500’s supercar-esque looks may suggest, it is more than quick enough for a luxurious grand tourer capable of crushing cross-continental road trips without breaking a sweat. The car’s top speed is electronically limited to 168 mph (270 km/h).

During a recent review of the LC 500 Convertible, AutoTopNL had the opportunity to push the car to its limits and was able to hit its top speed without too much fuss. During the publication’s testing, it was also able to complete the 100 km/h – 200 km/h (62 mph – 124 mph) sprint in an impressive 10.86 seconds.
While we haven’t had the opportunity to drive the LC 500 Convertible, we did have the chance to drive the LC 500 Coupe roughly two years ago and were left seriously impressed. The car perfectly blends together luxury and comfort with scintillating performance and a soundtrack that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
