Intriguing footage filmed from Tesla’s manufacturing facility in Fremont, California has revealed that the automaker is testing a Ram 1500 TRX, perhaps the most insane and least Tesla-like pickup truck currently on sale.
This video was shot by a Tesla fan flying a drone over the Fremont site. Most of the video isn’t particularly interesting unless you’re a diehard Tesla fan. However, the clip does get interesting at the 1:20 mark when the 1500 TRX comes into view.

The wild pickup truck can be seen loaded up with testing equipment in its bed and while it may seem a little weird for Tesla to be testing a pickup truck that guzzles gas unlike any other, it is likely benchmarking the TRX against the long-awaited, all-electric Tesla Cybertruck that could reach the hands of customers towards the end of this year.
Powering the TRX is the insane 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Hellcat engine developed by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. In TRX form, this engine pumps out 702 hp and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque, allowing the truck to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds, 100 mph (160 km/h) in 10.5 seconds, and sprint down the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph (174 km/h). It is quick, there’s no doubt about that, but the Tesla Cybertruck should out-perform it quite comfortably, at least in a straight line.
Tesla will sell the Cybertruck in a handful of different configurations, including a dual-motor variant that will match the TRX’s 4.5-second sprint to 60 mph and a tri-motor variant that will reportedly hit 60 mph in as little as 2.9 seconds.
