Your Mercedes-Benz GLB 250, AMG GLB 35 Could Decide To Lose Weight All Of A Sudden

Mercedes USA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are conducting two separate recalls for certain units of the GLB.

The first recall targets 2,362 units of the 2020-2021 GLB 250, made from May 13, 2019, to September 15, 2020, as their wheel arch covers on the front fenders might not have been installed correctly.

As a result, they could detach during driving, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of an accident and/or injury. The automaker blames a “process deviation in the assembly plant” for the issue that could be signaled by a gap between the wheel arch cover and fender.

Mercedes’ authorized technicians will inspect the mounting of the front wheel arch covers and, if required, they will correct their installation.

The wheel arch covers aren’t the only parts that could separate from the GLB while on the move, as a second recall, which concerns 5,215 units of the GLB, states that the spoilers mounted on each side of the tailgate could also detach. These parts were not installed according to specifications either, “due to a process deviation in the assembly plant”.

Besides the GLB 250, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 vehicles are also affected by this problem. All of them were put together between May 14, 2019, and October 8, 2020.

Dealers will check the mounting of the rear side spoilers and replace them if necessary.
