It’s going to be an exciting summer for BMW fans, as the brand is putting the final touches on the new generation M4 Convertible.

In fact, only the rear fenders, bumper, and part of the trunk lid were wrapped up, allowing us to take a better look at its design. And as expected, it follows in the footsteps of its fixed-roof sibling, save for the folding soft-top obviously, which is one important change over its predecessor, as that one featured a folding hardtop. This move has allowed BMW’s M Division to save some weight and lower the car’s center of gravity. So, in theory, it should handle much better.
Like the 2021 M4 Coupe and M3 Sedan, the new M4 Convertible will be offered with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six. The engine produces 473 HP and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque in the standard models, and 503 HP and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) in the Competition. The 0 to 60 mph is estimated to take around 4 seconds, and top speed will likely be limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), or 180 mph (290 km/h) with the optional M Driver’s Package. Both rear- and all-wheel drive versions should be in the pipeline too, and purists will be glad to know that a manual transmission is expected to be offered alongside the auto box.
