Electric vans are shaping up to be big business and Ford is looking to cash in as they’ve opened a registration site for the 2022 E-Transit and announced pricing information.
Starting with the latter, the E-Transit cutaway will start at $43,295. At the top end, the E-Transit high-roof extended-wheelbase cargo van will begin at $52,690.
That being said, the van is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit and there could be additional state and local incentives depending on where you live. Ford also noted owners could save money in the long run as scheduled maintenance costs are projected to be 40% less than those for the gas-powered Transit.

Orders are slated to begin in July and dealers will be pretty busy as more than 450 commercial customers have expressed interest in purchasing the electric van in North America. Ford went on to note that number includes “200 top fleets and fleet management companies,” so it appears fleets aren’t experiencing range anxiety.
The E-Transit will be available in a variety of configurations as there are chassis cab and cutaway models as well as cargo vans with three roof heights and three lengths. Regardless of which version is selected, all feature a 67 kWh battery pack and an electric motor that produces an estimated 266 hp (198 kW / 269 PS) and 317 lb-ft (429 Nm) of torque.
While it’s nice to see multiple configurations and a powerful electric motor, the E-Transit low-roof cargo van has a targeted range of just 126 miles (203 km). That’s not too impressive, but Ford noted the average commercial van only drives 74 miles (119 km) per day.
