One day after the official unveiling of the 2022 F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck, Ford has opened the official reservation site.
Securing a build slot will cost you a fully refundable $100 and the order books will open this fall, prior to the first deliveries that are expected to take place next spring.
The online configurator has yet to make its way to the website, but the Dearborn automaker has taken a first step in this direction by letting visitors select their favorite color. The palette includes 10 different shades, with the Star White and Rapid Red being available as options.
In terms of pricing, you are looking at an MSRP of $39,974 for the commercial version of the 2022 F-150 Lightning, excluding the $7,500 federal EV credit. The XLT will become available from $52,974, adding the Gray Ion Satin Metallic grille with signature lighting, extended running boards with improved lighting, a 360-degree camera system, an interior work surface and cloth upholstery. The Ford CoPilot Assist 2.0 safety bundle and extended-range battery are options. The Lariat and Platinum will add even more gear, and the latter is said to carry an MSRP of $90,474.
With the standard range battery, the dual-motor 2022 F-150 Lightning offers a combined 426 HP, which increases to 563 HP with the extended range battery pack. At 775 lb-ft (1,051 Nm), the torque is identical in both versions, though the 563 HP variant will hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in around 4.5 seconds. The entry-level model targets a 230-mile (370-km) range, while the extended range battery version has an EPA-estimated autonomy of 300 miles (483 km).
