Unlike some competitors, the GV70 comes standard with an extensive assortment of driver assistance systems. They include Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist. Other safety features include High Beam Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Rear Parking Distance Warning. The model also has Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist detection.
As the name suggests, the model is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.
Moving up the trim ladder is the GV70 2.5T AWD Select, which starts at $45,000. It features a lightly revised exterior with a panoramic glass roof, larger 19-inch alloy wheels and auto-dimming side mirrors with projection lamps.
Inside, the model gains a power tilt / telescopic steering wheel, ventilated front seats and a 16-speaker Lexicon premium audio system. Buyers will also find a memory system for the front seats as well as aluminum trim with a “spin brushed pattern.”
The $49,150 GV70 2.5T AWD Advanced adds leather, a heated steering wheel and an adjustable ambient lighting system. Other niceties include rear sunshades, a second-row 110-volt outlet and “wave line” trim with backlighting.
The model also has additional driver assistance systems including a Blind-Spot View Monitor, a Surround View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist. They’re joined by Front Parking Distance Warning, Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist and an Advanced Rear Occupant Alert system.
If that isn’t luxurious enough, buyers can upgrade to the $52,750 GV70 2.5T AWD Sport Prestige. It features a sport appearance package as well as 21-inch alloy wheels.
Customers will find a more upscale interior with unique leather seats and leatherette upholstery on the door panels. The model also has alloy pedals, digital key technology and aluminum trim with a haptic carbon pattern. Other additions include Highway Driving Assist 2, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control with Auto Curve Slowdown, and a more advanced Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist system.
Buyers looking for more power can opt for the GV70 3.5T AWD Standard, which starts at $52,600. It features a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 developing 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque.
Besides the bigger engine, the model has beefier front brakes, a sport appearance package and an electronically controlled suspension with road preview technology. Buyers will also find a lot of the same equipment as on the GV70 2.5T AWD Sport Prestige including special leather seats with heating and ventilation.
One step up is the GV70 3.5T AWD Sport Advanced, which begins at $57,600. It features Nappa leather seats with quilted accents, a suede headliner and leatherette upholstery on the door panels. The model also has a 16-speaker premium audio system, a heated steering wheel and additional driver assistance systems such as a Blind-Spot View Monitor, a Surround View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist and Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Sitting at the top of the range is the $62,500 GV70 3.5T AWD Sport Prestige. It has acoustic rear door glass, an electronic limited slip differential and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, drivers will find carbon fiber trim and Nappa leather seats with suede inserts. Other highlights include a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, a tri-zone climate control system and heated rear seats.
The 2022 GV70 will arrive at U.S. dealerships this summer and Genesis is currently accepting reservations. When it arrives, it will undercut a number of competitors including the $43,300 Audi Q5, the $43,000 BMW X3 and $43,200 Mercedes GLC. It’s also worth repeating the GV70 comes standard with all-wheel drive, while it’s an option on the German competition.
