Tesla has increased prices for non-performance variants of the Model 3 and Model Y yet again.

The electric car manufacturer has been slowly increasing prices Model 3 and Model Y in recent months and now, prices for the Model 3 Standard Range have risen from $39,490 to $39,990. Similarly, the Model 3 Long Range AWD is $500 more expensive than previously, now starting at $48,990.

As for the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD, it is almost $500 more expensive and starts at $51,990. When including the $1,200 destination charge, the cheapest Model 3 you can now buy costs $41,190.

Prices for the Model 3 and Model Y have been steadily increasing in recent weeks. In mid-February, the Model 3 Standard Range Plus could be purchased for $36,990. Before long, however, Tesla increased its price by $500 to $37,490. Two weeks later, prices rose to $37,990 and two weeks after that, they increased once again by $500 to $38,490. Four weeks ago, prices jumped again by $500, pushing the EV up to $38,990. Earlier this month, yet another $500 price hike was applied to non-performance versions of the Model 3 and Model Y.

Given the consistent price increases, it seems apparent this is part of a strategy from Tesla to slowly increase prices rather than increase them by a few thousand dollars at a time. Some speculate that Tesla is increasing prices to account for the possibility of the EV federal tax credit being reinstated.
